Alcohol / Chemical Dependency Program

The Outpatient Chemical Dependence Treatment Program (OPC) at St. Vincent's Services will provide its clients with knowledge and the skills to attain the following:

Goals:

1. To be able to abstain from mood-altering substances.
2. To strengthen the quality of family and social relationships.
3. To develop a sober support network in the community.
4. To assist and support clients toward being self-reliant while they upgrade educational and vocational skills.

The program will achieve these goals in four phases lasting for approximately 9-12 months.

Phases:

1. Phase I/Comprehensive Assessment - 1 - 4 weeks
2. Phase II/Treatment Phase - 8 -12 months - 5 - 6 times a week
3. Phase III/Completion Group - 1 month - 1 - 3 times a week


Services:

The program provides comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, nurse and psychiatric evaluations, group and family counseling. The groups that are offered are:

Family Groups
Community Groups
Anger Management
Adolescent Groups
MICA Groups
Criminal Justice
Methadone Maintenance Specialty Group

Special Services:

The programs offers a special focus for clients with children in foster care, assisting them in the process of assuming their parental responsibilities by providing skills, educational seminars and advocacy to negotiate the foster care system.

Urine toxicology or oral swab test will be taken randomly once a week, unless requested differently by referring agencies. Clients will be encouraged to use the program as a resource if a relapse occurs. Evaluations and referrals will be made to a more structured level of care if the client is unable to benefit from an outpatient program setting. Clients will also be assisted with issues regarding housing, entitlements, legal, education and vocational readiness training, and childcare.

The criteria for admission to the outpatient program are the following:

  • Meet the criteria for DSM IV for substance abuse, substance dependence or other polysubstance disorder.

  • Clients who report a disruption in the areas of family life, social relationships, legal, physical and emotional health, housing and employment due to chemical use.

  • Clients who are able to participate and comply with treatment outside of a 24-hour setting.

  • MICA clients who are able to participate and benefit from an ambulatory program.

  • Significant others.

    Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
    Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
