A Letter From Father Harris
My Dear Friends:
Under the protective archway of St. Vincent's, our youngsters walk their individual paths, each lit by the light of hope.
A child may take a path leading to a loving foster family or to supportive group home care. After being in care, a child may take the path back to his birth family, or walk a new one on the way to an adoptive family. Our older youngsters may journey down the path toward independent living as young adults.
Our youngsters do not walk alone -- our caring staff and loving foster parents walk along side of each one, giving each youngster the opportunity to develop trust, develop joy and zest in living and a strong belief in what can be accomplished in life.
We also provide pathways to a better life for children with HIV/AIDS and other medically fragile conditions. We help their families remain together as they cope with the profound effects of illness. We provide medical care through our pediatric clinic and our formidable support system. We also give their foster parents the tools to care for their children's exceptional needs. We give strength and hope to parents with HIV as we help them find loving families for their children when illness forces their paths to diverge one final time.
We help our families on their paths to recovery through our Mental Health and Alcohol and Chemical Dependence Programs. And, adults with developmental disabilities follow a path to stability and belonging as they enter our wonderful family homes where they find the care and support they need for a good life - and be the best that they can be.
Our youngsters, who have walked a tough road in their early lives, are entitled to dream big like any one else. We provide them with a path to their dreams and aspirations through our American Dream Program. The American Dream Program allows them to use the strength and knowledge and achievement they acquire on this journey toward a productive life and for a chance to give back to those who are just setting foot on their own paths to success.
Rev. Msgr. Robert M. Harris
